About this tool

Pick the barcode type, type the value, and download a PNG or SVG. For EAN and UPC codes you can enter the number without its last digit and the check digit is worked out for you. If you enter a full number with a wrong check digit, the tool tells you what it should be, so you don't print a code that scanners reject.

Common questions

What is a check digit?

A last digit worked out from the others, so scanners can catch a misread. EAN-13, EAN-8 and UPC-A all end with one.

Can I make a barcode that is valid for shops?

The pattern will be correct, but retail numbers must be issued to your business by GS1. Use any number for your own stock, tickets and files.

Which type should I use for text?

Code 128 holds letters, digits and punctuation, so it suits most internal labels and shipping.

Is it free to use?

Yes. There's no sign-up, and you can use it as often as you like.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool runs inside your browser, so what you enter stays on your device.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in your browser on a computer or a phone.
