About this tool
Upload forms reject a file that is one byte too large. Type the limit you were given, and the quality is searched until the file sits just under it. Pixels are only reduced when the lowest sensible quality still misses, and you are told when that happens.
Common questions
Will it ever go over my limit?
No. The file is checked before you get it. We count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so it's also under the limit on sites that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes.
Why is my PNG saved as a JPG?
PNG has no quality setting to adjust, so size targets use JPG or WebP. Transparent areas are filled with the color you choose, or kept if you save as WebP.
What if my form also has a minimum size?
Enter it under Minimum size. If a simple picture stays below it, blank bytes are added as a hidden comment. The picture itself doesn't change.
Is it free to use?
Yes. You can use it without an account a few times a day, and a free account raises the daily limit. Nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.
What happens to my files?
Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
