About this tool
Large images slow down websites and bounce back from email. Choose a level, drag the divider to compare before and after at actual size, then compress one image or a whole batch. If a file can't get smaller, you keep the original.
Common questions
Which level should I choose?
Balanced suits most photos. Use High quality for images you may print, and Small file when size matters more than fine detail. No quality loss keeps every pixel of a JPG or PNG.
Why does my PNG look slightly different?
PNG has no quality setting, so it gets smaller by using fewer colors. Photos can show faint banding. If that happens, raise the quality or save as WebP.
What if the file can't be made smaller?
You get the original back and we say so. A compressed file is never larger than what you started with.
Is it free to use?
Yes. You can use it without an account a few times a day, and a free account raises the daily limit. Nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.
What happens to my files?
Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
