How to convert an image to WebP
- Add one or more images.
- Choose the quality, or turn on lossless.
- Select Image to WebP and download the result.
Examples
A 1200 × 800 PNG screenshot: turn on lossless to keep every pixel of the text sharp. The WebP stays 1200 × 800.
Twenty 4032 × 3024 iPhone HEIC photos: add them together, set the quality to 85, and download one ZIP of WebP files at the same pixel size.
A 480 × 270 animated GIF with 60 frames becomes an animated WebP with the same 60 frames and the same timing.
About this tool
WebP is a web image format that every current browser shows, and it's usually smaller than JPG or PNG for a similar look. Add any mix of images, including iPhone HEIC photos and animated GIFs, choose the quality, and download them as WebP. Graphics can be kept pixel for pixel with lossless mode.
Common questions
Will the WebP be smaller than my PNG?
For a photo saved as PNG, usually much smaller. Lossless WebP keeps every pixel, and it's often smaller than the same PNG too.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. Transparent areas of a PNG, GIF or other image stay transparent in the WebP.
Does an animated GIF stay animated?
Yes. Every frame and its timing are kept in an animated WebP.
Can every app open WebP?
Current browsers can, and so can most image apps. Some older programs and upload forms still can't, so keep your originals.
Is it free to use?
Yes. You can use it without an account a few times a day, and a free account raises the daily limit. Nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.
What happens to my files?
Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
