Examples
A 1920 × 1080 banner for your website: convert it at quality 70, then compare it with the original on screen before you swap it in.
A 512 × 512 PNG logo with a clear background stays 512 × 512 and keeps its transparency as AVIF.
50 product photos at 2000 × 2000: add them together and download one ZIP of AVIF files, each the same size in pixels.
About this tool
AVIF usually makes the smallest file of the common web formats, with few visible flaws. All current browsers show it, so it suits websites where every kilobyte counts. Add any mix of images, choose the quality, and download them as AVIF. Transparency and animation are both kept.
Common questions
Which quality should I choose?
Start at 90, which looks the same as the original for most photos. AVIF holds up well at lower settings, so try 70 if you need smaller files, and compare the two on screen.
Can every app open AVIF?
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari show it. Many photo apps, editors and upload forms can't yet, so keep a JPG or PNG copy.
Why does AVIF take longer than JPG?
AVIF packs the picture more tightly, which takes more work, so a large batch takes a little longer.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. Clear areas stay clear, and an animated GIF or WebP stays animated.
Is it free to use?
Yes. There's no sign-up, and nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.
What happens to my files?
Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
