About this tool

A 4K recording is hard to play on older devices and slow to send. Moving it down to 1080p or 720p keeps it looking sharp on most screens while making it far easier to handle. Choose a standard resolution or a custom one, and the sound carries over unchanged.

Common questions

What's the difference between 1080p and 720p?

1080p is 1920×1080 pixels and 720p is 1280×720. On a phone they look similar. On a large TV or monitor, 1080p looks noticeably sharper.

Does changing the resolution make the file smaller?

Going down usually does, but it isn't the aim of this tool. If a smaller file is your goal, Video Compressor handles both quality and size together.

Is it free to use?

Yes. There's no sign-up, and nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.

What happens to my files?

Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
