About this tool

Type a color in any format and see it in all the others, with a swatch. HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, CMYK and OKLCH are all supported, and color names like coral work too. A contrast checker compares your color with a second one and tells you if text passes WCAG AA and AAA for normal and large sizes, so you can pick readable pairs.

Common questions

What is OKLCH?

A newer way to describe color that matches how people see lightness and strength. It is supported in CSS, and equal steps in lightness look equal.

Is CMYK here exact for printing?

No. It uses a simple formula without a printer profile, so use it as a starting point. Print colors depend on the paper and ink.

What contrast do I need?

WCAG AA asks for 4.5 to 1 for normal text and 3 to 1 for large text. AAA asks for 7 to 1 and 4.5 to 1.

Is it free to use?

Yes. There's no sign-up, and you can use it as often as you like.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool runs inside your browser, so what you enter stays on your device.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in your browser on a computer or a phone.
