About this tool

Paste a list and sort it in one step. Besides A to Z and Z to A, you can put numbers in real order so item2 comes before item10, sort from shortest to longest, reverse the list, or shuffle it. Sorting follows language rules, so accented letters sit beside their plain forms. Turn that off to sort by character code.

Common questions

Why does 10 come before 2 in other sorters?

Plain sorting compares one character at a time, so 1 comes before 2. Choose the numbers-in-order option and 2 comes before 10.

Will é sort next to e?

Yes, when Follow language rules is on. You can type a language such as fr, de or sv to use its rules. Off, lines are sorted by character code and accented letters come last.

Is the shuffle really random?

It uses your browser's random number generator and a standard shuffle, so every order is equally likely. Press Shuffle again for a new order.

Is it free to use?

Yes. There's no sign-up, and you can use it as often as you like.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool runs inside your browser, so what you enter stays on your device.
