About this tool

A user agent is the text a browser sends to say what it is. Paste one to see the browser and version, the rendering engine, the operating system, the device and the CPU. The box starts with your own browser's user agent, so you can see what sites see. It is read in your browser using an open source parser, and nothing is sent.

Common questions

Why does Chrome show so little detail?

Newer Chrome and Edge versions shorten the user agent on purpose to reduce tracking. Sites that need more ask for it separately.

Can it spot bots?

It flags common crawlers and tools such as Googlebot and curl. A bot can pretend to be a browser, so treat it as a hint.

Is this reliable for blocking users?

No. Anyone can change their user agent. Use it for information, not security.

Is it free to use?

Yes. There's no sign-up, and you can use it as often as you like.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool runs inside your browser, so what you enter stays on your device.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in your browser on a computer or a phone.
