About this tool

Type a size and choose the units. Both systems are here: decimal units where 1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes, and binary units where 1 MiB is 1,048,576 bytes. Bits and bytes are included for speed and bandwidth sums, where 8 bits make 1 byte. A table shows your size in every unit.

Common questions

How many MB are in a GB?

1,000 in the decimal system (GB) and 1,024 in the binary system, where the units are called MiB and GiB.

Why does my 500 GB drive show less in Windows?

Makers count 500 GB as 500 billion bytes. Windows shows the size in 1024-based units, labelled GB, which comes to about 465 GiB.

How do I convert megabits to megabytes?

Divide by 8. A 100 Mbit/s link moves at most 12.5 MB per second.

Is it free to use?
