Common questions

What is the formula for percentage change?

(new value - old value) / old value x 100. A positive result is an increase and a negative one is a decrease.

Why can't I use 0 as the old value?

A change from 0 cannot be written as a percent, because it would mean dividing by 0. Use a different starting value.

Is a 50% rise followed by a 50% fall the same as no change?

No. 100 rises to 150, then 50% of 150 is 75, so you end at 75, which is 25% lower than the start.

Is it free to use?
