How to blur faces in a photo

  1. Add your photo.
  2. Select Find faces, or drag a box over each face or detail.
  3. Select Blur Faces in Photos and download the result.

Examples

A 4000 × 3000 street photo with three people: select Find faces, and each face gets an oval box. The blur follows the size of each box, so a large face is hidden as well as a small one.

A 1920 × 1080 screenshot that shows an email address: draw one box over it and choose Solid box. Those pixels become black, and nothing else in the screenshot changes.

A 3024 × 4032 photo of a car: draw a box over the number plate and choose Pixelate at strength 80. The plate turns into large blocks of color.

About this tool

Before you share a photo of a crowd, a car or a document, hide what others shouldn't see. Select Find faces to mark every face it can see, or drag a box over each face, number plate or line of text, and choose blur, pixelate or a solid box. The preview shows the real result as you mark it, and nothing outside the boxes changes.

Common questions

Does it find faces by itself?

Yes, if you select Find faces. It marks each face it sees with a box you can move, resize or remove. Small, turned or covered faces can be missed, so check the preview and drag across any it didn't mark.

Which effect hides things most safely?

A solid box, because nothing of the original is left under it. Strong blur and pixelation hide faces well, but lightly blurred text can sometimes still be read, so cover numbers with a solid box.

Can I use oval shapes for faces?

Yes. Choose Oval under Shape, and each box is hidden as the oval that fits inside it.

Is my photo sent anywhere else?

No. It's only used to make your result here, then deleted with your other files. Camera, date and location details are left out of the new file.

Is it free to use?

Yes. You can use it without an account a few times a day, and a free account raises the daily limit. Nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.

What happens to my files?

Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
