Examples
A greeting: typing namaste, aap kaise haiM? gives नमस्ते, आप कैसे हैं?
A rent note: typing kiraayaa ₹8,500 prati maah gives किराया ₹8,500 प्रति माह. Figures and the rupee sign stay as they are.
A name: typing Shrii Ramesh Kumaar Sharmaa gives श्री रमेश कुमार शर्मा. The capital S and R at the start of a name are read as small letters.
Strict spelling: with casual spelling off, mera gives मेर, so you type meraa for मेरा.
About this tool
Write Hindi in Devanagari from an ordinary English keyboard. Type the way you say it, such as aap kaise haiM, and the Hindi appears at once in the box beside it. The rules are fixed and listed in the key chart, so the same letters always give the same result. It doesn't guess words from a dictionary, so type each sound you want written.
Common questions
How do I type ट, ड and ण?
Use capitals: T is ट, D is ड and N is ण, while t, d and n give त, द and न. Th and Dh give ठ and ढ. For ड़ and ढ़ put a dot before them, so la.Dakaa gives लड़का.
Why does karnaa give कर्ना and not करना?
Two consonants typed together are joined, which is the rule. Type the a between them, karanaa, to get करना. A phone keyboard with a word list would guess it for you, but this page doesn't guess.
What does casual spelling do?
It writes a single a at the end of a word as ा, so mera gives मेरा and hua gives हुआ. With it on, leave off the final a to end on the letter itself, as in dharm for धर्म. Turn it off to type strict ITRANS, where you write meraa.
How do I get the dot in हिंदी and मैं?
n or m before a consonant becomes ं by itself, so hindii gives हिंदी. At the end of a word type M or .n, so maiM gives मैं. For the moon-dot in हाँ, type .N, as in haa.N.
