Common questions
How does it decide what a word is?
A word is a run of letters or digits. Contractions like don't, hyphenated words like well-known and numbers like 3.14 each count as one word. Symbols and emoji on their own are not counted as words.
Does it count Hindi and Marathi words?
Yes. Words in Devanagari are split at spaces, and each vowel sign stays with its letter, so the count matches what you read.
Can it handle a very long text?
Yes. A text of several megabytes is counted after a short pause, so typing stays smooth.
Is it free to use?
Yes. There's no sign-up, and you can use it as often as you like.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool runs inside your browser, so what you enter stays on your device.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It works in your browser on a computer or a phone.
