Use this when a field has a character limit. It shows the number of characters with spaces and without, and how many you have left for a post on X, a 60 character SEO title, a 160 character meta description, an SMS or an Instagram caption. An emoji or a Hindi conjunct counts once, as it looks on screen.
Common questions
Are spaces and line breaks counted?
The main number counts every character you see, including spaces and line breaks. The No spaces figure leaves out spaces, tabs and line breaks.
Why can my post on X still be too long?
X counts each emoji as 2 characters and every link as 23, whatever its real length. This counter shows plain characters, so leave a little room if your post has emoji or links.
How is an emoji counted?
As one character, the way you see it. Many programs count it as two or more because of how text is stored, so a number from another tool may differ.
