Examples

A 3024 × 4032 iPhone photo: Fill keeps the middle 3024 × 3024 and scales it to 400 × 400. Choose Keep the top to start the square just above your head.

A 2000 × 1500 photo with a colleague beside you: crop it first with Image Cropper so your face fills about half the square, then size it here.

A 300 × 300 picture is under LinkedIn's minimum, so it's enlarged to 400 × 400. LinkedIn accepts it, but a larger original looks sharper.

About this tool

LinkedIn won't take a profile photo smaller than 400 × 400 pixels, and it only accepts JPG and PNG files. Add any photo, including an iPhone HEIC, and get a square JPG at exactly 400 × 400. The preview shows the round crop LinkedIn uses, so you can check your head and shoulders sit well inside it.

Common questions

What size should a LinkedIn profile photo be?

LinkedIn's help gives 400 × 400 up to 7680 × 4320 pixels, as a PNG or JPG of 8 MB at most. This tool makes a 400 × 400 JPG.

Why won't my photo upload to LinkedIn?

Usually it's too small, too large, or the wrong type, such as HEIC, WebP or GIF. A JPG made here is 400 × 400 and far under 8 MB.

Is the photo shown as a circle?

Yes. LinkedIn shows profile photos in a circle, so the corners of the square are hidden. Keep your face in the middle.

My photo is small. Will it still work?

A photo under 400 pixels is enlarged to 400 × 400 so LinkedIn accepts it, but it will look soft. Start from the largest copy you have.

Is it free to use?

Yes. You can use it without an account a few times a day, and a free account raises the daily limit. Nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.

What happens to my files?

Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
