  3. Select LinkedIn Banner Resizer and download it.

Examples

A 4000 × 3000 photo of a city: Fill keeps a 4000 × 1000 strip from the middle and scales it to 1584 × 396.

A 1080 × 1080 logo: Show the whole photo places it at 396 × 396 in the middle, with a plain brand color or a blur of the logo on both sides.

A 6000 × 1500 panorama is already 4:1, so it's only scaled down to 1584 × 396, and nothing is cropped.

About this tool

LinkedIn's background photo is a very wide 4:1 strip, so most photos lose a lot when they're cropped to fit. Choose which part of the photo to keep, or keep the whole photo in the middle with a soft blur of it on either side. You get a 1584 × 396 JPG that's ready to upload.

Common questions

What size is the LinkedIn background photo?

LinkedIn's help recommends 1584 × 396 pixels, as a JPG or PNG file under 8 MB.

Will my profile photo cover part of it?

Yes. Your round profile photo sits over the lower left of the background, and LinkedIn says the background can look different with the size of the browser window. Keep text toward the middle and right.

Which part of my photo is kept?

With Fill, a strip a quarter as tall as it is wide is kept from the middle. Choose Keep the top or Keep the bottom to move it.

Is it free to use?

Yes. There's no sign-up, and nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.

What happens to my files?

Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
