About this tool

Write or paste Markdown on the left and see the formatted page on the right as you type. Switch to the HTML tab to copy the code. GitHub-style extras such as tables, task lists and strikethrough work. The HTML is passed through a sanitiser, so scripts and unsafe attributes are removed from both the preview and the code you copy.

Common questions

Why was my script tag removed?

Markdown can contain raw HTML, including scripts. They are stripped so that previewing or pasting untrusted text cannot run code. If you need a script in the output, add it yourself after copying.

Which Markdown flavour is used?

GitHub Flavored Markdown: the standard rules plus tables, task lists, strikethrough and automatic links.

How do I keep single line breaks?

Tick the option to treat a single line break as a new line. Otherwise, as in standard Markdown, you need a blank line to start a new paragraph.

Is it free to use?

Yes. There's no sign-up, and you can use it as often as you like.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool runs inside your browser, so what you enter stays on your device.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in your browser on a computer or a phone.
