About this tool
In a book or thesis, page 1 is often the twelfth page of the file, so typing 1 in your PDF reader lands in the wrong place. Page labels fix that. Set a numbering style, prefix and start number for each section, and the reader's page box then matches what's printed.
Common questions
Will the numbers print on the page?
No. Labels only change the numbers your PDF reader shows. To print numbers on the pages, use Add Page Numbers or PDF Header and Footer.
Do all PDF readers show labels?
Adobe Acrobat, Foxit and most desktop readers do. Some web browsers and phone apps ignore them and show plain page numbers.
Is it free to use?
Yes. There's no sign-up, and nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.
What happens to my files?
Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
