Common questions
How is a hike percent worked out?
Hike % = (new salary - old salary) / old salary x 100. A rise from ₹50,000 to ₹56,500 a month is 6,500 / 50,000 x 100 = 13%.
Why does my take-home rise by less than my CTC?
Part of a CTC rise goes to things you don't get each month, such as gratuity, and part can go to income tax and, if your PF is on the full wages, to PF. The take-home figure here is approximate, so use the In-Hand Salary Calculator to match your payslip.
Is a hike on CTC or on take-home pay?
Hikes are usually quoted on CTC. Enter your CTC here, and tick the take-home option to see the effect on monthly pay.
Can I work out a pay cut?
Yes. Enter a negative hike, such as -10, or a new salary lower than the old one.
