About this tool
Paste the old text on the left and the new text on the right to see what changed. Lines that differ are shown side by side or in a single inline list, and the exact words that changed are highlighted inside each line. You get counts of lines and words added and removed, and can ignore spaces or upper and lower case.
Common questions
Does it compare words or lines?
Both. It first matches lines, then marks the changed words inside lines that were edited. Lines that were only added or removed are shown whole.
Can I ignore small differences?
Yes. Ignore spaces treats extra and trailing spaces as the same, and Ignore case treats Hello and hello as the same.
Is there a size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Comparing tens of thousands of lines works. If two very long texts are completely different, the comparison may stop with a message, and you can compare smaller parts.
Is it free to use?
Yes. There's no sign-up, and you can use it as often as you like.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool runs inside your browser, so what you enter stays on your device.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It works in your browser on a computer or a phone.
