About this tool
Characters like spaces, &, = and non-English letters cannot go into a web address as they are. This tool replaces them with percent codes such as %20. Encode a single value for a query string, a whole link that keeps its : / ? & = structure, or form data where spaces become plus signs. Hindi and emoji are encoded as UTF-8.
Common questions
What is the difference between a component and a whole URL?
A component, like one value in a query string, has everything special encoded, including / ? & and =. A whole URL keeps those characters so the link still works, and only encodes spaces and non-English letters.
Why does a space become %20 or +?
In a web address a space is %20. In form data sent by a browser form, it is a plus sign. Pick Form data if the receiving program expects plus signs.
How are Hindi letters encoded?
As UTF-8 bytes, three bytes for each Devanagari letter, so नमस्ते becomes a long run of codes starting %E0%A4%A8. This is the standard that every browser understands.
Is it free to use?
Yes. There's no sign-up, and you can use it as often as you like.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool runs inside your browser, so what you enter stays on your device.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It works in your browser on a computer or a phone.
