About this tool

Paste a link or text full of codes like %20 and %C3%A9 and read it in plain characters again. Decode a single component, a whole URL that keeps codes for reserved characters like %2F, or form data where a plus sign means a space. If a code is damaged, you get a message that points to where, not a crash.

Common questions

Why does it say my text is not valid?

A percent sign must be followed by two hex digits, and a group of codes must form valid UTF-8. The message shows the position of the first problem. A text cut off in the middle of a code is the most common cause.

When does a plus sign become a space?

Only in Form data mode. In a normal URL a plus sign means a plus sign, so the other modes leave it alone.

Why are some codes left in Whole URL mode?

Codes such as %2F and %3F stand for characters that have a special meaning in a link. Decoding them could change what the link does, so they are kept. Use component mode to decode everything.

Is it free to use?

Is my text uploaded anywhere?
