About this tool
A waveform shows the shape of a recording, with loud parts tall and quiet parts short. It can serve as artwork for a podcast episode or a post about a song. The preview changes as you adjust the style, colors and size, and it's drawn the same way as the download. SVG stays sharp at any size, and PNG works everywhere.
Common questions
What does the height of each bar show?
The loudest moment in that slice of the recording. Heights are scaled so the loudest part of the whole file nearly fills the image.
Should I save a PNG or an SVG?
PNG is a picture that works in every app and site. SVG is made of shapes, so it stays sharp at any size and is easy to recolor in a design program, but some sites won't accept it.
Can I put it on a colored background?
Yes. Turn on Transparent background and only the waveform is drawn, so it sits on whatever is behind it.
How large can the image be?
Up to 4000 pixels wide and 1500 pixels tall. A long recording fits at any size, because each bar covers a longer slice of it.
Is it free to use?
Yes. You can use it without an account a few times a day, and a free account raises the daily limit. Nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.
What happens to my files?
Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.
