A salary credit of ₹45,000.00 on 1 April 2024, after a balance of ₹23,749.50, becomes the line 2024-04-01,2024-04-01,NEFT CR-TEST EMPLOYER PVT LTD-SALARY APRIL 2024,N091241234567,,45000.00,68749.50,OK, with the debit left empty.
A withdrawal printed as 1,23,456.78 in Indian grouping is written as 123456.78, so a spreadsheet adds it up as a number.
An overdrawn balance printed as 5,000.00 Dr is written as -5000.00, so balances below zero sort and total correctly.
About this tool
Get your transactions as plain CSV, the format most budgeting and accounting apps can import. Each row has the date as YYYY-MM-DD, the narration, the reference, and the debit, credit and balance as plain numbers with two decimals and no commas. The running balance is checked row by row, and a Check column says which rows to look at. Locked statements open with their password.
Common questions
Why are dates written as 2024-04-01?
It's the international date format, and spreadsheets and apps read it the same way everywhere. A date like 01/04/2024 can mean 1 April or 4 January, depending on the app's settings.
Will Excel show the narration properly?
Yes. The file is saved as UTF-8 with a marker that tells Excel so, which keeps symbols such as ₹ intact. A narration that starts with =, +, - or @ gets an apostrophe in front, so no app runs it as a formula.
Where are the opening and closing balances?
A CSV file holds one table, so the opening and closing balance and the result of the check are shown on the page when it's done. Use Bank Statement to Excel for a file with a Summary sheet.
What happens to my statement and its password?
The password is only used to open the file, and it isn't saved or logged. The statement and the CSV file are deleted automatically about 24 hours after you add the file.
Is it free to use?
Yes. You can use it without an account a few times a day, and a free account raises the daily limit. Nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.
