About this tool

Paste a JSON list of records and get a CSV table. Nested objects are flattened into columns with dotted names such as address.city, and lists can become numbered columns, one joined cell or JSON text. Columns from every record are included, so records with different keys line up. Large numbers keep all their digits. Download with a BOM so Excel shows Hindi and accented letters correctly.

Common questions

Why does the download have a BOM?

Excel guesses the encoding of a CSV file and often gets Hindi and accented letters wrong. A byte order mark at the start tells it the file is UTF-8. Untick the option if another program does not want it.

What does protect against formulas do?

A cell that starts with =, +, - or @ may run as a formula when opened in a spreadsheet. This option puts a quote in front, so the cell shows as text.

What JSON can it convert?

A list of objects gives the clearest table. A single object becomes one row, a list of plain values becomes one column, and a list of lists becomes rows without a header.

Is it free to use?
