About this tool

Add an audio or video file and get a written transcript, plus subtitle files with timings. It's useful for interviews, lectures, meetings and videos that need captions. The language can be detected for you, or you can choose English, Hindi or Marathi yourself. Clear speech with little background noise gives the most accurate result, and you can play the recording on the same page to check the transcript against it.

Common questions

Will it tell speakers apart?

No. You get one continuous transcript, with no labels showing who said what.

How do I use the subtitle files?

SRT works in most video players and editors, and on YouTube. VTT is the format for web pages. Both hold the same text and timings, so choose whichever your program accepts.

How accurate is Hindi and Marathi?

English is the most accurate, and Hindi is usually close behind. Marathi is harder, so spelling mistakes are common and you should read it through. Choosing the language yourself avoids a wrong guess, especially for a short clip.

Is it free to use?

Yes. There's no sign-up, and nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.

What happens to my files?

Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
