About this tool
Need the sound on its own for editing, transcribing or a podcast? Choose Original to lift the audio out exactly as it is in the video, with no re-encoding and no loss. Or pick MP3, M4A, WAV or FLAC when another program needs a particular format.
Common questions
What does Original do?
It copies the sound out as it's stored in the video. Nothing is re-encoded, so it's quick and loses nothing. The file type depends on the video: most MP4 files give M4A, and most WebM files give Opus.
Which format should I use for editing?
WAV or FLAC, because neither loses any more quality. WAV files are large. FLAC files are about half that size and open in most audio editors.
Is it free to use?
Yes. There's no sign-up, and nothing is added to your file unless you ask for it.
What happens to my files?
Your files are only used to run the tool you chose, and they're deleted automatically after about 24 hours.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It all works in your browser, on any computer or phone.
