About this tool

Turn a private message into a block of letters and numbers that only the password can open. It uses AES-256-GCM, a key made from your password with a slow method and a random salt, and a new random IV each time. Everything the receiver needs, apart from the password, is inside the result. All of it happens in your browser.

Common questions

What if I forget the password?

The text can't be recovered by anyone. There is no reset, so keep the password safe.

What happens with a wrong password?

You see a clear message. The check built into AES-GCM also catches any change to the text, so you never get garbled output.

Should I send the password with the text?

No. Send it by a different route, such as a phone call.

Is it free to use?

Yes. There's no sign-up, and you can use it as often as you like.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool runs inside your browser, so what you enter stays on your device.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in your browser on a computer or a phone.
